From the moment the mom with three young kids got on board, I could tell it was her first time in business class. The way she managed her children with wide eyes of excitement reminded me of my own first flight long ago.
While I was ready to make their journey enjoyable, the man next to her was not happy at all.
“Are you serious?” he scoffed as she settled in beside him while juggling her bags and kids like only a mother can do.
“Miss,” he snapped at me. “You’re really allowing them to sit here?”
“Sir, these seats belong to her. She has every right to be here,” I replied with my calmest smile but he just rolled his eyes at me.
He kept complaining even when she apologized for any inconvenience caused.
“Oh trust me,” he grumbled. “I have an important meeting on this flight.” He continued saying how he needed complete quiet. “These kids won’t be quiet; I can already tell.”
I watched as the woman tried to keep her children calm; they did their best although the youngest couldn’t help but squeal occasionally when spotting clouds outside.
Still, the businessman acted like they were making noise right in his ears and sighed dramatically every few minutes.
About an hour into our trip, I brought him coffee and cookies hoping it would ease things up a bit.
“Thanks,” he said dismissively without looking up. Meanwhile, I gave fruit cups to the kids thinking those would be quieter snacks for them so that businessman wouldn’t lash out over nothing!
When his conference call wrapped up though? He seemed more relaxed when the mother leaned over asking about designs in his notebook!
