AN OLD MAN SITS ON A CHAIR BY THE SEA EVERY DAY FOR 10 YEARS

Despite this, the boys couldn’t shake their curiosity. One day, while playing catch, they devised a plan. Intentionally tossing their frisbee in his direction, they approached him to apologize. To their surprise, the old man smiled knowingly. “You didn’t throw it by accident,” he said. “You,” he pointed to Adam, “are a great thrower. And you,” pointing to Peter, “are excellent at catching. This was no mistake.”

Stunned, the boys realized the man had been observing them, too. To Alice’s surprise, the old man, Walter, opened up to the boys, and they struck up a conversation. When Peter finally asked why he came to the beach every day, Walter shared a heartfelt story.

“I’m waiting for my brother,” Walter began. “We were in the army and got separated, sent to different countries. When we last saw each other, we promised to meet here, where we often walked with our mother. That was decades ago. Ten years ago, I moved back here and started coming every day, hoping he’d show up. They gave me his dog tag when he went missing, but they never found him.”

Walter pulled a worn dog tag from his pocket. The boys, moved by his story, resolved to help him. “That’s why you must take care of each other,” Walter told them. “Brotherly love is the greatest strength.”

From that day on, Adam and Peter visited Walter daily, bringing him sandwiches and sharing stories. One day, they discovered they lived near each other when they ran into him on their way home. This newfound closeness inspired the boys to act. They shared Walter’s story on social media, hoping to find his brother.

Then, one day, Walter was missing from his usual spot. Concerned, the boys rushed to his house with Alice. When he opened the door, they were relieved—until they noticed a man standing behind him who looked just like Walter.
